Pottermore Beta

The game has been available to beta testers for the past several months. According to the main site, up to one million players were accepted into the beta. Much has changed through the course of the beta test of the game, and it has been extended several times. The current plan, according to the main Pottermore site, is to launch in early April 2012.

The web site was launched on July 31, 2011 (Harry Potter’s birthday) and players were invited to join the beta test by completing a challenge called, The Magical Quill. The challenge required fans to answer a series of seven trivia questions from the books.

In the beta test, the only story available is the Philosopher’s Stone, which is the first story in the series. However, it does have a lot of content, and players can meet many of the different Harry Potter characters and explore Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The highlight, according to most beta-testings, is chapter 7 – the Sorting Hat, where you find out which school in Hogwart’s you will join.
