If you’re a regular FarmVille player, you’ve probably already seen a bit about crafting, one of the latest concepts released in the game. Indeed, this new crafting feature in FarmVille makes up for yet another delightful addition to the already addictive game.

Get crafty in FarmVille

Crafting in FarmVille basically uses its pre-existing highlights like that of the Farmer’s Market, Bushels, and the typical neighbouring and harvesting acts. Before its launch, it was called Crafting Cottages. It was only when it was released that it was referred as Crafting Buildings. This feature is only available for farmer’s level 25 and above. They will be able to produce Crafted Goods from Bushels using a Crafting Building.

To start, you can choose your profession. You have three options, which are The Winery for making wine, Bakery for baking pastries, and Spa for producing perfume. For more thorough information, you can click each the “What is this?” icon found on each of these buildings. After that, you can now see the crafting building in the farm.

Now, let’s look deep into the process of making goods. FarmVille players will begin with a Level 10 good. If you click on the Make a Good icon, you will be prompted to the recipes page. The recipe you are entitled to make will vary according to the profession you chose. Lastly, click on Make It icon at the bottom to start making the good.

As a general rule, you need goods for recipes, and you need Bushels to get goods. Bushels can be collected from friends, which isn’t really surprising with this kind of game. Basically, you can get Bushels by harvesting your own from your crops, visiting your neighbour, and accepting Bushels from your friends’ News Feed.

Goods are basically meant to be sold. These are nifty little things that improve the current recipes you have, and unravel a new one. You will receive 1 experience point for every goods you sell to your neighbors. For an inventory, you can check this out in the Sales Report button at the foot of the page.

Your crafting building needs to level up in order for you to make a profit out of it. The level is based according to how many crafting areas you have. You can level up by unlocking the coin option, or by Farm Cash. If you intend to unlock a coin option, then you will need to collect stars. You can start with levelling recipes 6 times which can yield you 1 star and 50,000 coins.

Each recipe can increase its level if you fulfil the requirements for each. So, if you continue making the Goods you need to unlock recipes, you are on the right track. Aside from selling goods, you can also trade goods in exchange for rewards. Furthermore, you can also purchase them from your neighbors.

It all boils down to this — making a complete and comprehensive guide to crafting in FarmVille can only do so much for you. As an individual, you make choices that are different from others. Therefore, you can use this guide in getting tips, but you can still keep your choices at bay. After all, fun is the main reason why you are playing FarmVille in the first place.

But now Farmville has answered the problem with a new item called Unwithers. This is an item you can buy in the market for 10 Farmville cash (about $6 in real money). You get a 3-pack of unwithers, and each one will completely restore your entire farm, reviving withered crops. A nice touch is that you can also use it on your neighbor’s farm. Is it worth $2 a shot. We don’t know for sure. It all depends on how much you value your time and Farmville coins.

A special new crop has arrived in Farmville for a limited time only. Super Pumpkins are available only for players who become fans of Farmville on Facebook. The new seeds will be available for planting through the end of the month only. They’re a pretty impressive crop with some of the best statistics in the game. They have the best net profit per hour of any crop (almost twice as much as peas!) and they earn XP at a rate equivalent to all the berry crops. Bottom line: if you’re serious about earning coins and XP, become a Farmville fan now and start planting super pumpkins every four hours until they go away!

Finding neighbors can be tricky, especially if your friends don’t play the game. First, try sending invites to your friends to play Farmville. To do so, click on the “Invite Friends” tab above the game window and then choose people to invite among your friends list. An invite will be sent to these friends, and they can choose to accept, ignore, or decline your invitation.

You can also go to the “My Neighbors” tab and see which of your friends are already playing Farmville. On this page, you’ll see info on each friend’s level, achievements earned, and number of neighbors. We recommend scanning the list for players who are the most active. They are more likely to visit your farm and send you gifts.

If you’re looking to add highly active Farmville players as neighbors, you can also check out other resources such as the official Farmville forum. There is a thread called “Find Neighbors” where you can find other players looking for neighbors, and then add them to your farm.

You might also think about inviting people from Farmville fan sites. Search on “Farmville” in Facebook and look for results that mention “neighbors.” Many of these groups allow you to post “add me” messages so other members can invite you as neighbors; you can also send invitations to players listed on these sites. To increase your success rate, try including stats about your game level and activity, especially if you’re a very active player and highly advanced in the game.

The maximum number of neighbors that you can invite is 300, however you can keep accepting new neighbors that send you invitations.

If you’re worried about adding strangers to your account, you can restrict your privacy settings so you can add Farmville neighbors without giving them access to the rest of your Facebook profile. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Go to your “Friends” tab on Facebook
2. Click on the “Create New List” button above your listed friends
3. Type “Farmville Friends” in the box where it says “Enter a Name”
4. Hit “Create List”
5. Go to the “Settings” tab
6. Click on the “manage” link next to Privacy
7. Click on “Profile Information”
8. For each category, click on the drop down menu to the right and choose “Customize”
9. Under “Hide this from,” add “Farmville Friends” in the box that says “These people”
10. Click “Save Setting”

Now anyone you add to your Farmville Friends list will not be able to see your restricted profile information. When you click on the “Friends” tab in Facebook, you should see a “Add to List” button next to each of your friends. Click on “Facebook Friends” to add anyone you wish to include in this list.

A Mystery Box can be used as decoration for your farm, but opening it will reward you with one special item and experience points. To open a box, place it on your farm and then click on it to get the “Open” option. After choosing “Open,” the box will reveal its special contents. Once the box is opened, it disappears from your farm.

Each box usually contains one of six possible mystery items and only lasts about a week for purchase in the Market. Unopened boxes that you’ve already purchased can still be opened even after they’re removed from the Market.

While it may not make you as much profit in the game, there are advantages to raising animals. Besides being cute and decorative, they do not “go bad” as crops will do if you don’t harvest them at the right time. This can be helpful if you’re not able to visit your farm regularly, or will be away from a computer on vacation.

In addition, animals can often be received as gifts, which means you can add them to your farm and collect coins after harvesting them, without having to invest in buying the livestock with your hard-earned funds.

Getting smaller animals can be a space saver too. Animals such as rabbits and ducks don’t take up that much room, and can earn you easy coinage. You can also invest in a chicken coop or dairy farm to house multiple chickens and cows, up to 20, which can be harvested all at the same time, saving you time and space.

There are currently close to 50 animals available on Farmville. Some of them can be purchased at market, such as chickens, pigs and sheep. Limited animals also show up in market; however, you’ll need to buy them before time expires and they can be quite expensive. Most other animals are only available through gifting from friends.

Another way to add animals to your farm is to “adopt” one. This can be accomplished by checking the profile pages of your Facebook friends. If a lost animal is found on their farm, they can put it up for adoption on their Facebook newsfeed. You’ll need to be quick and on the ball to capitalize on these opportunities. The first person who clicks on the adoption link will receive the animal, and no one else can get it after that.

According to the many profit charts and discussions on farm animals in Farmville, generally the best animals to maintain on your farm are goats, horses, ducks and rabbits, but that also depends on how often you can visit your farm to harvest those animals.

For the work you spend on your animals, Farmville will also reward you with ribbons, such as the Zoologist ribbons for harvesting your animals; the Animal Shelter ribbons for adopting lost animals; and the Noah’s Ark ribbons for having different kinds of animals. Ribbons will earn you coins as well.

Finally, it is possible to pet your animals, but the only result is hearing them make sounds. There is no financial benefit to petting your livestock, but it can be a fun activity, especially if you have children!

Hay bale stacking is just an illusion on Farmville. The code doesn’t actually allow stacking, but by placing the hay bales in strategic locations, it can appear as though the hay is stacked in nice little rows.

The trick to doing so is to place the hay bales so the top right corner of each hay bale in your bottom row is touching the bottom left corner of each hay bale in the row above it.

Then you’ll want to place extra hay bales to fill in the gaps on the right and left sides, so the ends are even. Add two to the right on the bottom row; add one to the right on the second row, etc.

After that, add two bales immediately behind the hay bale on the bottom left, and one immediately behind the hay bale on the middle left. You’ll end up with what looks like steps on the left side.

You can expand on this process to create bigger and better hay stacks. You can also vary the colors of the hay bales that you use. There are currently ten colors of hay bales – white, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, gray and black.

You can make cool designs for the holidays and different seasons of the year. How about an all-red heart for Valentine’s Day? Or a green four-leaf clover for St. Patrick’s Day? You can try other neat designs too, like a gigantic pyramid, waterfall, logo, or smiley face. Some players build high towers and put houses on them, creating villas in the sky. There are also massive fortress-like structures that can make your farm look like a fortified battle zone.

There is really no limit to the number of designs you can make, and if you get really good at it, you can enter your designs in various contests found around the web.

You can obtain hay bales by either purchasing them in the market under “Decorations – Hay Bales” for 125 coins each. You can also receive them as gifts from friends and neighbors. The more active a player you are in giving gifts and helping others in Farmville, the more likely you’ll receive assistance and gifts of your own in return.

You'll be the envy of all your farmville friends with this villa on your property.

So getting the Villa isn’t really about a specific strategy as much as it is figuring out the best way to level up to 34 and make sure you have 1 million coins saved up once you get there. There’s obviously a lot of different ways to approach this, but the fastest is to focus on growing the most profitable crops by level with some attention paid to maximizing the XP rewards you can get from certain ribbons. It almost goes without saying that any strategy in Farmville benefits from adding as many neighbors as you possibly can. Having more neighbors means you’ll be able to expand your farm faster without having to pay Farm Cash, and it also increases your opportunities for earning coins and XP as you try to progress to level 34.

Here’s one basic strategy you can follow to level as quickly as possible in the game. Depending on how much time you’re willing to spend in the game, you can focus on fast growth crops and leveraging the soybean delete glitch, or you can take things a little easier by just planting the most profitable long term crops. Here’s what you should be doing, level by level to get your Villa as quickly as possible. These crops focus on XP over coin profit, but you’ll still have enough coins at the end for the Villa.

Best Short Growth Crops (these take less than one day to harvest)

Best Long Growth Crops (these take one day or longer to harvest)

One additional trick you can use to improve your leveling rate is to use the Soybean delete trick. After you’ve planted your crops, save one plot and plant soybeans on it. Then use your shovel tool to immediately delete the soybeans you just planted. Then keep repeating the process until you run out of time or patience (it’s a lot of clicking!) It sounds a little crazy, but each time you repeat this cycle, you essentially convert 30 coins into 3 XP. Plowing the plot costs 15 coins and planting soybeans costs another 15 coins. But you get 1 XP for plowing the plot and 2 XP for planting soybeans. Keep doing this and you can quickly convert your excess coins into XP. This is especially useful early in the game when you have a lot of coins leftover after a planting cycle. It’s less efficient later on in the game, unless you really don’t mind all the clicking you’ll have to do.

Using these tips and strategies should help you get to level 34 quickly and have enough coins for your villa. Soon you’ll be sitting inside, sipping some nice tea and reflecting on your farming empire!

A red barn in Farmville is the best option for purchasing storage with Farmville coins.

One thing that happens to everyone sooner or later in FarmVille is that you accumulate a bunch of stuff. Whether it’s from decorations that you buy at the market or the endless stream of gifts from friends and neighbors, sooner or later you’re going to collect a lot of items in the game. A question that faces many farmers early on is what to do with all of this stuff? If you just leave it all out on your fields, your farm starts to resemble a junkyard. Worse, having all of these items lying out on the field takes up valuable planting space. But a lot of us are pack rats at heart (hey, they even have a ribbon for that!) so what’s a farmer to do? The answer is simple: storage buildings.

Purchasing buildings to store your extra stuff in FarmVille isn’t cheap, but there are a number of options and some good tips about how to use storage to the fullest. First, let’s look at the basics. You can purchase storage buildings at the Market in the Buildings section. You’ll need to scroll past the houses until you get to the barns section. Any building that shows a capacity number in its stats area can be used for storage. You’ll see that all of the higher capacity storage buildings you can buy cost Farmville Cash. The best storage building you can purchase with just regular coins is the Red Barn. It costs 40,000 coins and stores 6 items. Most of the colored barns, such as the red, blue and black barns, cost 7 FV cash and can hold 20 items. In addition to barns, you can purchase a tool shed, but it only holds 2 items, which is not very much at all, especially considering how much space it takes up on your farm!

Once you place your storage building on your farm, you can put any of your farm items and decorations inside it by first clicking on the item and choosing Move. Then, click on your storage building and it will be placed inside. If you ever need to retrieve it, click on the storage building and then choose Look Inside. You’ll be able to remove items by selecting Use or just sell them if you don’t want to store them anymore.

If you want to expand the capacity of your storage buildings, you can increase each building twice. The first expansion adds 5 storage slots to a building and the second expansion adds 7 for a total of twelve storage spots. So using this technique allows you to expand a colored barn to hold 32 items! There are two options you can use to do this. You can either pay Farm Cash to expand each building you own, or you can hold a barn raising with your friends. To do it with Farm Cash, click your building, then choose Expand and then click the Buy button next to the building. To hold a barn raising, click on the Expand button instead.

A barn raising is a fun event, but it’s a little complicated. Here’s how it works. First, select this option for the building you want to expand. A message will be posted on your profile telling friends you’re hosting a barn raising. You need to get ten friends to help you within three days for the barn raising to be successful and for the expansion to work. Usually, this means you’ll need to pester some of your friends to help out. It takes some effort, but it’s a viable alternative to spending Farm Cash. A small bonus is that each of your friends will receive 100 coins if they help out with the barn raising.

Storage is a really important part of the game, especially as you progress through the levels and accumulate more stuff. Also, you’ll really need good storage options to earn some of the higher level Pack Rat ribbons, like the blue ribbon, which requires you to own 250 decorations. Knowing how to store stuff and expand your options will make hoarding a lot of items in Farmville a lot easier.

FarmVille is a very engaging and fun game enjoyed by tens of millions of players. One of the things that makes FarmVille so much fun to play is that there are many different ways to progress through levels and earn coins in the game. While planting and growing crops like vegetables and fruits, are the most efficient way to build your farm and gain coins and experience points, there are other things that you can grow on your farm. One of them is to grow trees, which provide an alternate and interesting way to play the game.

For the casual FarmVille player, trees offer a few significant advantages. They don’t require you to log into the game frequently to check on them, and unlike crops, they never spoil. So if you go on vacation or a business trip and can’t tend to your farm, the trees with their ripe fruits will still be there waiting for you upon your return. Another great thing about trees is that you can fit up to 16 of them on a single plot of land, so if you’ve got the coins and are eager to start building a tree farm, you can pack in a huge number of them. Once you advance to the later stages of the game and are maintaining farms with 200 plots or more, you’ll have the opportunity to create an enormous tree farm. The coin earning potential is quite large. For example, a 100-plot farm filled with olive trees can earn 179,200 coins in revenue every four days!

Just like crops, trees have their own harvest schedules and coins returns. They cost a lot more than crops to purchase, but don’t have a renewal cost. Once you buy the tree, it just keeps producing as long as you keep it on your farm. The major downside to trees is that they only provide coins for harvesting and not experience points, so they’re much less efficient for leveling than growing crops. But of course, when paired with some clever FarmVille strategies and cheats, all that can be overcome. However, it usually makes sense to combine your tree farm with a regular crop farm to achieve balance in your advancement through the game.

The lime tree is one of the most profitable trees that you can buy with coins.

As with many things in FarmVille, the very best trees are only available through gifting. If you have higher level friends in FarmVille, ask them to send you gifts of Olive trees, which are extremely profitable. Another great tree to give and receive is the new Starfruit Tree. Finally, if you have and are willing to spend Farm Cash on your tree farm, the most profitable tree in the game is the Acai tree. This tree can be harvested every two days for 158 coins, but each one costs 27 Farm Cash to purchase.

Dairy farms are a somewhat recent addition to the game which add some excitement, fun and complexity to managing the cows on your farm. You can store up to twenty cows inside the dairy farm, which will make harvesting your cows much faster and easier. Instead of needing to click on 20 individual cows to harvest milk from them, you only need to click once each day on the dairy farm. It can make the whole process of owning and managing cows in Farmville much more enjoyable.

Dairy farms also have some very important additional benefits. Owning a dairy farm increases your chances to gain extra fertilizer when you fertilize the crops of your friends. Remember that you benefit as well when you fertilize the crops of your friends and you gain both coins and XP.

A cow in Farmville

You can also take advantage of some special strategies and cheats with dairy farms in Farmville. An important thing to know is that the completion status of the enitre dairy farm follows the completion status of the first cow you put inside. So by using a simple trick you can maximize your return through switching cows in and out of the dairy farm. It’s a little confusing at first, but here is how it works. The first thing to do is to have a full dairy farm with 20 cows in it and several additional cows wandering on your fields. The more extra cows you have, the more times you’ll be able to repeat the trick. Once you have everything set up, wait one full day for all of the cows to get to 100% complete. The next step is to harvest your dairy farm. Then, empty the dairy farm completely. Next, put one of the additional cows you had on your fields into the dairy farm. Because these cows are also at 100% completion, your dairy farm will suddenly jump back to 100% complete. Now for the sneaky part: put 19 of your harvested cows back into the dairy farm and then harvest the whole dairy farm again. It will treat all 20 cows inside as being complete. Now just repeat the process as many times as you can, depending on how many additional cows you had on your field. It involves a lot of clicking, but the amount of coins you can make in a day using this technique is exceptional.

Now, a little bit about calves in FarmVille. These are a recent addition to the game, introduced in December, 2009. In addition to being ridiculously cute, calves are extremely profitable animals to keep on your farm. There are currently four different kinds of calves: regular, pink, brown and alien (green). When a player puts a bull inside his or her dairy farm, there’s a fifty percent chance that it will mate with one of the cows inside and produce a calf. Your friends can adopt the calves produced in your farm and each calf may only be adopted by one friend. Although calves cannot be placed inside the dairy farm, they are very profitable animals, and are harvested once each day for 80 coins each.

One more thing about dairy farms in Farmville: you can have up to five of them on your farm at once, each holding 20 cows for a total of up to one hundred cows in your dairy farms. That’s a lot of cows, but it allows you to build up a very impressive dairy farming operation in the game.

Farmville Ribbons are a fun and very entertaining way to track your progress in the game. You can earn ribbons in a bunch of different categories, from “Local Celebrity” which you get for adding neighbors, to “Flower Power”, which you earn from growing flowers on your farm. Each ribbon gives out rewards, usually in the form of additional coins or experience points (XP). They’re fun to collect and mark your achievements in the game. But they’re more than just things to earn and brag about. If you plan out how and when to earn them, you can utilize ribbons to maximize your coins and XP early in the game.

Currently, there are over 25 different ribbon categories and each category allows you to earn four different colors of ribbons: yellow, white, red and blue. The colors get progressively harder to earn within each category. For instance, the Cream of the Crop Yellow ribbon, which you earn for harvesting crops, is won after harvesting just 30 crops in the game. But the white ribbon requires you to harvest 1,000 crops. And the blue ribbon for Cream of the Crop requires a whopping 50,000 harvested crops to earn.

Although some of the ribbons are really just intended to give you additional goals in the game to pursue, you can utilize some of them very strategically in the game to quickly earn significant XP and coins. Early on, ribbons can help you progress through your FarmVille levels very quickly.

Two ribbons that you might want to pursue relatively early on are the local celebrity and good samaritan ribbons, which reward you for adding neighbors and helping them on their farms. Used together, you can get a lot of coins and XP for these two ribbons. For example, by adding 8 neighbors and then helping them each out three times, you’ll end up with the white local celebrity ribbon and the yellow good samaritan ribbon. The combined rewards are 3,500 coins and 55 XP. Although the XP rewards for these ribbons are low, the coins can be very helpful early in the game, and of course adding neighbors opens up a lot more opportunities than just collecting ribbons.

The chicken coop is a simple 5×3 building that you can purchase in FarmVille for 5,000 coins. You can place it anywhere you like on your farm, and you place your chickens inside it. The chicken coop will hold up to 20 chickens, and you can mix the different kinds of chickens. The primary advantage to using a chicken coop is that you can harvest all of your chickens at once. Another major advantage is that chickens in coops each have a chance of laying mystery eggs, which provide special gifts. Finally, if you have a chicken coop, friends can visit your farm and feed your chickens for extra coins and XP. The white, brown, and golden chickens have a harvest time of 1 day, and the black chickens harvest in 0.9 days.

The rewards you can get from harvesting mystery eggs from your chickens via coops are varied. Most of the time, you’ll get a regular chicken of the same color as the chicken that provided the egg. But sometimes, you’ll get some strange prizes, such as flamingoes, garden gnomes, fuel, and even a hot tub! And now that friends can visit your farm and feed your chickens for coins and XP, they also get a chance to find mystery eggs in your coop each time they stop by.

One great trick to know about chicken coops is that the percentage completion of the entire coop is determined by the first chicken you place inside. So if you have extra chickens outside your coop that are ready to harvest, you can use a simple cheat to get additional harvests out of your chickens. Here’s how it works: first harvest your coop and then empty it completely. Next, place one of the chickens from outside that is ready to harvest inside the coop, and then put 19 of the chickens you already harvested back inside. All 20 chickens can now be harvested again! Although it can be a little monotonous and tiresome to constantly move chickens in and out of your coop, this is a great technique to maximize your chances of getting mystery eggs or even to earn your Zoology ribbons in the game.

The rewards for gaining each level in Crop Mastery are very similar to ribbons. You get coins and XP each time you advance a level. Once you achieve level 3 of mastery in a particular crop, then each time you plant that crop, there is a small chance that the crop will become a Premium Crop. A Premium Crop appears a little bit larger than normal crops and it provides XP upon harvesting instead of just coins. That’s a huge benefit! The amount of XP and the chance of having a premium crop varies from seed to seed. In some cases, there’s as much as a 40% chance that your crops will become premium if you’re a master. In others, such as Artichokes, the chance is only 5%. That’s a whole other reason to never plant Artichokes in this game, but that’s another long story.

When you reach level 3 in crop mastery for a particular crop, you earn a mastery sign for that crop that you can place anywhere on your farm. The sign is a great way to show off to your neighbors that you have become a master of that particular crop.

So which crops should you try to master? Like so many things in Farmville, it really depends on your play style and your overall goals. One thing to remember is that you should really aim for crop mastery with the types of crops that you plan to continue growing the most. So you’ll want to line up your mastery with high-yielding coin and XP crops, such as the various berry plants, like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Blackberries are an excellent crop to master later in the game, but require a great number of harvests to achieve level 3 mastery. Pumpkins and Tomatoes, two already high-performing crops for XP gain, are great choices for mastery early on.

Whatever you choose, crop mastery is a fun and exciting way to get more out of your Farmville game. It takes considerable patience and a lot of planting, but soon you can become a master in a number of different crops.

The seasonal poinsettia in Farmville

The new poinsettia plant in Farmville is a seasonal crop that is available through the end of the month. It costs 45 coins to plant, and can be harvested in one day for 126 coins. They’re certainly fun to look at and of course fit in well with the holidays, but is it worth your time to plant them?

Compared to other flowers, the new poinsettias have good rates of return for both coins and XP. The net profit per hour is 2.87 coins per plot of poinsettia and the net XP per hour is 0.17. Compared to other crops, though, poinsettias fall towards the middle of the pack. Of all the crops currently available, poinsettias rank 14th for XP per hour and 29th for net profit/hour. You’re better off planting many of the regular crops, such as grapes, if you want to get the highest profit possible.

However, the poinsettias rank well in XP/hour compared to other 1 day plants. So if your play pattern for Farmville is to log in only once per day and you’re aiming to build XP over coins, poinsettias are a good option.

Here’s one of the easiest and most useful Farmville cheats you can do. You can trap your farmer inside other objects to keep him from walking around. This will speed up all of your plowing, harvesting, planting and other activities because your farmer will no longer walk from place to place first. Creating the trap is easy to do and many different objects will work. The most popular option seems to be hay bales.

To set the trap, place three hay bales together with a space in the middle and one side of the trap left open. Then click to the empty space in the middle to get your farmer to walk inside. Once your farmer is in place, close the trap by placing the fourth hay bale. To make this even more effective, create the trap around the exact center of your farm. This is where you usually begin when you log into the game. That way, you won’t need to reset the trap each time you play.

Leveling quickly in Farmville is really more of a science than an art. Given a sensible, consistent strategy, you can easily breeze past all your friends on Facebook with these simple Farmville cheats.

Ribbons are a great way to earn both coins and experience points (XP). There are a couple of ribbons that you should earn right away. First, earn the Local Celebrity ribbon by getting 50 friends. This requires no effort whatsoever and yields a quick 180 XP and 18,500 coins.

Next, go to your Farmville news feed section and look at your friends’ posts. Some posts will have the option to adopt a pet. Adopt 2 pets to unlock the Animal Shelter ribbon. Also, be sure to help your fellow farmers whenever you can, and you’ll be granted the Good Samaritan ribbon, worth 425 XP and 18,500 coins.

Most other worthwhile ribbons will be earned automatically as you progress through the game. Ribbons are only a very small part of the equation, however. Farmville is all about crops, so it makes sense that most of your experience will come from them.

Some crops are a complete waste of time and will slow down your leveling drastically. For example, artichokes provide one of the lowest amounts of both XP and coins. While your friends are wasting their time on artichokes, follow this list of “cash crops” from top to bottom for optimum leveling speed:

1. Strawberries – A no brainer; you should keep planting strawberries up to level 15 or so if you’re able to harvest them frequently.

2. Rice/Pumpkins – Choose rice if you have large gaps between your Farmville sessions, as it takes longer to grow. Plant pumpkins at night, wake up, and harvest them in the morning.

note for hardcore players: If you can log on to harvest every couple of hours, raspberries are great for quick XP. Otherwise, avoid raspberries and stick to pumpkins and rice.

3. Blueberries – Get rid of the pumpkins once you get these.

note for not-so-hardcore players: Grapes are really only worthwhile if you’re limited to checking your farm about once a day. If you’re a casual player, they’re worth a shot.

4. Tomatoes – You really can’t go wrong with tomatoes. Start planting them when you hit level 20. They have a midrange growth time and are among the most profitable crops in the game.

Crops will earn you free XP, and are really what the game is all about. If you have coins to spare, however, you can buy XP directly.

What to purchase depends largely on how much XP you have left before you reach the next level. If you are within 100 XP of the next level, purchase hay bales for only 100 coins each. At 5 XP apiece, this is a cheap way to close the gap on the next level. If you have further to go until the next level, buy something larger, like a vehicle or a barrel wagon.

These are all great guidelines to follow, but your personal leveling strategy will evolve through trial and error. Your decisions should vary according to the amount of time you can invest in the game, particularly when it comes to crop choice.

If you work full time, your best choice is choosing something that matures slowly so you will not have any unpleasant surprises.

Here are some tips for becoming a succsessful farmer on Farmville

• Sweet raspberries are a fast-grower and take under two hours for a full growth cycle with a payout of nearly fifty coins. Other berries such as blueberries require more time but bring in substantially more coins. Other good choices are strawberries which mature in four hours allowing you to gain 35 coins.
• Raising farm animals such as chickens, cows and sheep, may be fun, but ultimately, will not make you much rich. However, the advantage is that unlike crops they do not go bad and will not need much care.
• Trees are another alternative to crops that don’t require as much care but also don’t have the same return on investment. For instance, growing cherry trees takes two days for a mere gain of 18 coins, apple trees take three days for 28 coins and lime trees take 5 days for 75 coins.
• If you are looking for making some cash, you may visit a neighbor and lend a hand by cleaning up the weeds, raking up leaves or scaring crows away. You gain some extra coins and hands on experience this way.
• Bigger fields of course, will allow you to plant more, therefore will be much more profitable. However, in order to accomplish this you need to have several friends (called neighbors). For instance you need to have at least eight neighbors to expand the farm to a 14×14 lot, or better, 10 neighbors will give you a 16×16 lot. Of course, the more neighbors, the bigger land you may own, therefore the higher the profits.
• You can purchase additional building to get to the next level faster and move the game forward. But the buildings won’t earn you profits like the crops do. However, ultimately, they will just sit there and not bring any profits.

Just like in the real world, farming on Farmville can quickly become a fun hobby but you’ll need to have plenty of time and dedication to earn profits. However, just as the real farming profession, you must use time-tested strategies in order the gain the most out of your crop.
